No experience with it but VHT makes a flat black and clear coat Flameproof. My understanding is after drying it must be heat cured.

Yeah. There's a run/cool/run/cool/ride process. The directions are on the can. I like DHI better than VHT. VHT turns ashy looking pretty fast.

Yeah the VTH is real ashy looking, shows scuffs and dirt easy. Rust-oleum makes a good one that is still 2000 degrees but with a better finish.

There's other stuff that has a more satin like finish, but only go up to maybe 1500 degrees. Or at least I think

I've used VHT High Temp Caliper Paint to fix some 2-3in long scrapes on my Rush slip-ons that I got when hitting some black ice this winter. Matches the original satin-like finish pretty well. Been on for about 450 miles now and I haven't noticed it turning ashy. Will see how well it stands up once warmer weather is here and I start racking up the miles again.

I've painted my pipes black on several different bikes and used different brands of paint. I think the Rustoleum high heat flat black is the best.

If you don't want flat flat try any of the ceramic paints. Seem to be not as dull as the rustoleum and I made the mistake with curing the ceramic started the bike let it warm up, heard a heat shield rattle so to figure out which one I put my finger on it... And of course that bike now literally has my finger print in it lol after it cured (cooled) it seemed rock hard

ive had the same luck, no ash here. i baked mine in an oven though. as mreed said there are also directions on the can for run/cool cycling but think the oven works best. ive had mine painted like this for almost a year now and only have a few rock chips. just make sure u sand well first

went with the rust-oleum. i sanded down the pipes really well and put a first coat on. then just to see what it would look like i steel wooled them. gave is a shiny flat look. i know weird. but i like it a lot. the header pipes are wrapped. looks pretty bad ***. i'll post pics of my bike. i'm also working on the air cleaner that reed had a write up on. pretty excited.
