Default Nearly time to get the bike out

The weather is getting to be a bit decent up here in Canada. Still snow all over but the roads are clearing up and shouldn't be too bad. I've put the bike through a rough winter leaving it outside and I'm about to start getting it back in riding shape.

I plan on changing all the oil (motor, primary, transmission) and the spark plugs. I've also got a new battery coming in. What else should I look at?

The brake fluid was changed 5-6 months ago, should I think about doing that, too? How about the pads, assuming usual wear, would the weather have done any damage that I should be concerned about?

It was +5c last week... but now it's -21c in Edmonton. Atleast there's barely any snow on the roads.

Was your bike covered at least when it was outside?

X04D; fluids should've been changed when you stowed bike for winter months. Leaving old oils in engine for long idle periods & during cold weather can cause problems. Best to winterize at end of riding season next year.

As far as this year, get the fluids swapped ASAP & if you didn't stabilize the fuel - recommend you drain tank & purge fuel system. Get new fuel in bike w/fresh battery & make sure you look over all the essentials (tires, air pressure, cables, lights, etc.) to ensure all are in good working condition. After that - wait for good weather & ride.

Learned something new! I assume if I change the fluids before the Winter that they should be fine once Spring comes?
