Angry Noisy tappin cover after oil change....

1998xlh883 with 1200 pistons. Noisy after oil change (20/50) v-twin oil.First oil change after setting all winter..
I can hear the push rods and or values making a little noise.

Did you switch to synthetic? Synth oil can be noisier.

Did you run the motor before changing the oil? If not, how long did you let it run when you started it?

It's not unusual for a lifter to go down if the bike sits for months and it takes a few minutes of running for it to pump back up.

Good point. My Street Bob ran like that for about 15 mins after winter storage. I thought the bike was trashed somehow but it worked itself out.

well i rode all day, and the noise went away. she ran better and better as the day got longer.....
