Default 2000 xl1200c... computer... what?

Please resolve this stubborn argument between my friend and I

Does the 2000 xl1200c have a computer or not?

Is the speedometer cable driven or electronic?

If he wanted after market gauges he could just match up the wiring diagrams of the gauge and current wires to work? Yes, No?

Thanks!

1) Not really. It does not have an ECM like the newer ones, but the speedo will read codes.

2)Speedo is electronic drive off of the VSS.

3) Yes, they sell aftermarket gauges. Check out the tach and speedo's made by Dakota. There's other companies, but I mainly heard of Dakota. Yes, you simply match up the wires per wiring diagrams.

and the round goes to me!

The Dakota gauges is the ones he was looking at.

On a side note, I bought some gauges from Dakota for my vette, the background of them look cheap. Crossing my fingers once installed and hooked up they will look as good as the picture.....

Call Dakota Digital. They have some that will use the same VSS as his stock speedo so it just plugs right in.
