The only i DON'T like about my solid mount is that the exhaust options are VERY limited. Other than that, she's a keeper. Even now with no top end, seat, handlebars, headlight, ignition module and on and on.....having said that, I'd buy a new bike in a heartbeat if money was not an issue. But I'd still keep the 98

I'll keep my '99. I giggle every time I'm next to a rubber mounted motor vibrating like it is going to fall out of the frame.

Since this is my first Sportster I can only say it is a great bike. I liked the idea of the rubber mounted engine because of the vibration issue I had heard about. My bike runs very smooth-in my opinion-over 80, 90 and more. The vibration can be felt more at those speeds but I like the buzz.
883custom, 2004. Arlen Ness breather, re-jetted, screamin eagle slip ons, baffles out (before I got it).

That's part of the allure bud. I love when I fire up the nightster and watch it idle and wonder how the kickstand doesn't budge under those vibrations.

Test drove an '04 1200R but ended up buying a '99 1200S, it seems to pull harder and does not seem to "run out of steam", and it has loads of attitude. It's kind of what I think the Sporty was originally intended to be (handle well, light but a little rough around the edges). It's my portable time machine.
