I had to add some washers since the stock bolts were kinda long....the bottom left one will almost touch your brake shoe (or whatever it's called...).

I found that hard struts with nice seat springs isnt too bad compared to stock shocks & no seat springs....

anyways, you just can't have it all....look VS comfort

Do I need to add any bushings to the strut before I install it, or just place the bolt thru the mounting hole on the strut?

Do you actually mean "bushing" or "spacer"?

Spacers you might need because many struts aren't as wide as the stock shocks are.

Bushings you would only need if the hole in the strut is larger than the bolt from the shocks.

But with no idea of what struts you have, and nothing in your post reveals that, there is no way that any of us could make an intelligent determination. The previous poster must be just relying on what he needed when he did his, unless he knows you and knows what struts you have. But the rest of us have no clue what struts you have and cannot make an intelligent decision.

Good Point, mine were Lick's 10" struts. I have not heard of anyone running struts that require bushings, but I guess it's possible.

Just installed some struts on my 48 yesterday afternoon, no bushings here either. The only issue i encountered was the bike sat too low to get off the jack. Had to pick it up and carry it off the jack

Yea, I have a set that would need bushings because they were made for a different bike. No telling what boner122n has?
