As some may remember, my bike survived a rough winter. Since then, I've ridden it a couple times and no issue. Eventually I had problems shifting. At the beginning, I couldn't shift out of second (1-n-2 were fine). I'd end up jamming it from 2 to 1, then sometimes it would go from 2 to 3. After that it would go into 4 and 5. Then, I'd get down from 5 to 4, sometimes down to 3, then I wouldn't be able to get into 2. Sometimes I couldn't get into 1.
I changed all my oils and adjusted my clutch and nothing changed at all.
Eventually I figured I could ride, shift into 2, use my boot to slowly lower the shift peg but not enough to downshift, then bring it up until the next gear.
I hope it's simply that my shift peg is seizing somewhere? If that's not the case, what else could it be?
Sorry if my explanation doesn't make any sense, it's the best I could come up with.
EDIT: If this helps for clarity, when I shift the peg doesn't return to it's original position. If I downshift, it strays down instead of moving back up.
has the bike been down on the shifter side?
sounds like a bent shifter shaft.
or combination of bent shaft ,and shifting/drum/ forks.
the shifter should be spring loaded to the "center position" (move freely)
either way take off the primary cover , and see what you find.
Have you checked the primary chain? Does sound like something is bent/broke though. Checking the tension on the primary chain is easy and don't cost anything.
