I had a problem with my boot heel getting caught on my pegs sometimes when swiveling my foot to shift or brake. Was going to try different pegs. Then i thought i'd maybe customize the boots first. Took a grinder to the sharp angles on the heel & rear of the front sole.
Solved my problem : )
Exactly. This is why the MSF and AMA both suggest that your footwear should not have heels when riding.
Without heels doesn't mean totally flat, it means without a large step into the heel. Red Wing make many outstanding riding boots that have correct heels. Check into the MSF and AMA recommendations before flaming someone for using their recommendations.

I always ride with heels, ok I may get some funny looks at the lights of flying down the motorway but I find my heels feel great.
Ok it's hard finding them in a mans size 9!
(lol)
Cazimere - what a great idea! I think that's where I'll start...thanks!
tekdiver - most women's boots are made like the photo on cazimere's post. I just purchased a new boot because I found one I liked...unfortunately, I need an inch or two to get solidly flat footed on my bike (cause I'm short). I wore my hiking boots for a year and I didn't have any of these issues. I wanted a leather shoe for more protection. I had a pair of daytona boots - but sold them because there wasn't much of a sole on them to give me a lift and when backing up the bike my foot would slip (probably not enough grip on the bottom).
I wear Magnum brand work boots. The heel is built up but the bottom is flat so no foot peg issues.
HI knitski! It's exactly what I was looking for...thanks! I'll call them tomorrow to see what they have to offer in my size. I appreciate the suggestion!
LOL...Tek you need to get out and ride more rather than reading boot regulations....
Perhaps you should take the MSF class, then you would know these recommendations (NOT regulations), and not flame someone for understanding good riding technique and/or clothing.
