On my sleds I wear a full face & love it. On my bike I only have worn a full face once & it was 1 degree Celsius. That's 32.5 F for our southern neighbors. Definitely was warmer but I hated it. Couldn't see well enough for me.
I wear a HJC half helmet that has the zip off ear flaps which comes in very handy. Not really a cool helmet as it looks somewhat like a mushroom on my melon but it works & is DOT approved.
I know my chances of getting even uglier are better with this style of helmet. I also know my odds of crash survival are for better in my truck than on my bike, but weather permitting I would take the bike any day.
Go with whatever you are comfortable with.

I wear a SHOEI RF-1100...it's very comfortable! Safety is a priority for me as I have family....plus I don't want leather skin as I age! lol
I've seen modular helmets at motorcycle stores and many of them were broken...I've heard that if it was up or back that the wind catches it often....they are expensive but the quality is lacking IMO if it's that easy to break them while sitting on the shelf....
My biggest problem with HJC helmet is the one I had while it was cheap fogged up like nuts. To the point where I was always opening the visor. I think I had the low end model, but I bought an even cheaper helmet (Exo-400) and have had no such problem.
The exo400 has so much more padding in it as well. Just feel safer with it on.
