Default New tires and rain

Hello there i'm having new tires put on the bike and i know they are a bit slick due to the mold release on them and its recommended to take it easy on a new set for the first 100 Mi or so , but is going to be raining for the next few days and im a bit concerned in taking these new tires out in the rain at highway speeds should i sit it out and break them in with a few hundred mi on some dryer days???? or can i safely use em in the rain????

The mold release can be removed with Sunlight dish detergent and a Scotch Bright pad.

Just take it easy and don't do anything stupid. My wife just got a new bike and had to ride it home in the rain. She did just fine with her bike on the ride home. We live 90 miles away from the dealership.

I clean them (the technique above works as well as any) and do figure-8's in a parking lot for a few minutes. That gets rid of some of the whiskers and wears them in evenly.

New tires probably don't have any mold release on them. They do have lots of the molding whiskers and the surface finish may be too smooth for best adhesion. Break-in distances seem to range from 50-100 miles these days.

Scrub them in with a parking lot, or with a brillo pad. PArking lot is more fun
