What should I expect to pay for a new Iron?
I'm buying my first bike within a week. I've never bought any kind of transportation from a dealer before and I'm wondering how it will go down. I see the Iron on craigslist selling around 8 to 9 large usually. Pretty high for a used bike with an MSRP of 7999. I've also seen a couple people on here say they got theirs for 7200 (new). What should I expect? I know the salesman is going to smell blood when he sees me but I'd like to not get completely taken. Lol

The bikes on Craig's list are listed at 8-9K. They aren't selling for that. Do an ebay search, completed listings only. I bet most with an 8K buy it now price didn't get any bids. H-D likes to approve loans for greater than the price of the bike. Hopefully (for them, anyway) they leave the dealer with some bolt on extras. People often owe more for a used bike than what it's worth. They also think they should get eveything bake they paid, including tax. Sportsters are not rare and you shouldn't pay for one like they are. MSRP as an OTD price should be achievable, so 8K even.
