Default Superbrace

Ordered a Superbrace for my 05 XL1200C a week ago. Received it yesterday. I will be installing it this morning and ride it tomorrow. Won't ride today due to rain and hi winds. It is suppose to be 60 tomorrow and sunshine. Anyone else installed a Superbrace? and how do you like it? and does it do what you wanted it to do?

Tim

http://www.xlforum.com offered a group-buy on those braces last year and a lot of folks spent the coin for it, but I did not. I feel as though the front end is just fine the way it is for the way I ride. However, some that ride harder than I do, and who bought the brace, said there was a definite improvement in handling...

Are you having any problem with front end stability or 'wobble'?

I'm sure they won't hurt anything, but with the short tubes that come stock on the 1200C's I can't imagine that you would be having excessive front end flex.

Fork braces can do wonders for guys that ride hard into the turns. The front end has more flex than you think. Try this....Stand in front of the bike and hold the front tire firmly between you knees to keep it from moving. Now, turn hard back and forth on the handlebars. I'll bet you'll be surprised how much the front end will flex.

The Pro's & Con's on fork braces have been tossed back and forth for years, and it's still a hung jury when it comes to using them or not. Some swear by them, others swear at them.

After I installed the 8" over WideGlide front end I tried a brace for a few days, took it off and didn't notice one bit of difference in ride or stability.

But then again, I use my Harley's for normal 'cruising' more than anything else, and not for road racing or riding to extremes in the twisties...

Guess it's just a matter of personal preference...
