Well I took my bike in to the dealer today so they could fix something I broke. While they had the derby cover off, I had them adjust my clutch for me. When the guy took the bike out for a quick spin to make sure the clutch was fine, he came back and told me my bike runs like sh**. I have an 09 1200C and when I bought it new, I had SE slip ons put on. He told me I should get the SE tuner and upgrade my intake. He said my bike is running too leans and that Im not getting the performance I Should be getting. The tuner is alot of money itself, and the AC kit is only like 140. Do you think he is right? Are there any other alternatives? Thanks for any advice.
He has a point, however rude he was in making it. Go to nightrider and check out the
xides(sp?) Nothing wrong with the Screaming Eagle breather but there are plenty of aftermarket breathers out there, any of which will out perform the stocker.
All the EFI sportsters are factory set EPA compliant AFR of 14.7 to 1
This will not hurt the bike,,running just SE mufflers will not hurt the bike
It will run far far better if you at least get the AFR to 14.0 http://www.nightrider.com/parts/
read the faq page,,I chose the X14ieD per Nightrider
I got one smooth running bike and copper/coffie colored plugs now
The dealer sert or SE tuner set up by the dealer will be richer to compensate for the mufflers and SE Intake BUT
will still be set near 14.7 to comply with the EPA.
HD won't go much fatter for fear of fines.
