Not the right thread for that question. There are a bunch of threads addressing that question already.
According to %98 of our members, VANCE & HINES was sent down to us as a gift from God. I don't see it.

A Hypercharger is nothing but a fake blower hat and myself or anyone who knows how the real deal work have a bit of a chuckle when they see these things mounted on anything other than a blower. I do have a couple of friends who have them because they think they look cool and just put up with the giggles as a tradeoff for the grins they get from the 7th graders. To each their own, if you like them, go for it. Just don't expect any performance gains.

A real Ram Air intake only has openings at the front of the scoop and into the intake throat, which means any air entering the scoop will be forced into the carb/FI intake with a positive air pressure.

The Hypercharger on the other hand, also has an opening at the rear of the scoop box. This allows air coming in the front of the scoop to blow right past the carb/FI intake throat and out of the exit hole. Not only do you not get the "Ram" effect in this case, but the air flowing in & back out of the Hypercharger box, past the intake, creates a negative air pressure across the throat, which actually results in a loss of performance.

There have been a number of published test reports on various Stage 1 A/C boxes, and the Hypercharger is consistently at the bottom of the list.

Any performance increase you think you're seeing with a Hypercharger, is simply a figment of your imagination. Oh course, if you replaced an old, clogged air filter, with a new Hypercharger, you probably got some improvement.

Here's a question for you, if you closed up this rear vent, would it become a better air filter? Would it help in any way to make it a ram filter?

You can't, cause when the butterflies are closed. Where would the motor get its air from.

Mine (old one in a box just waiting to used) has a side ram scoop, it would draw air in there

It doesn't matter, that's just another hole for air that enters the front to escape from, again negating any "ram" effect.
Even if you did install a true "ram" air scoop, the idea that it will have much value to typical Sporty rider is kind of funny anyway, since you need to be running ~80 mph to get enough forced air flow to see any real performance enhancement from the ram effrct. You're better off with a high flowing flowing A/C which has a good velocity stack built into its design.

from most of the responces to any question about the hypercharger you would think that you could get them almost for free from any member that ever had one. I put one on my softail std when I first got the bike and have maybe 50 thou on it now and i love my hypercharger.. if any of you guys that hate them so much have one that will fit a 96 sporty 1200 let me know my son wants one thanks..

I was trying to be polite when I said dynos hate them. They are 'form before function' at their best, but they make a stock 80" with teardrop air cleaner replaced with a Hyperchoker, made a couple of years ago, lose nearly 5HP 7FPT. Now I don't no with these hot bikes that these guys put these Hyperclogers what they do to their power, but maybe at 150mph things change and up becomes down....

not.
