Default Torque Cones

I did a search on this and found that its about a 50/50 split on people who like/don't like them. what i could not find was any information on differences from one to another. Are the $100 samsons better than the $20 Mid USAs? is there any difference at all or is a torque cone a torque cone? I removed the baffles to get more mid range and top end and the throttle response is spot on. just on take off, poor performance. just trying to get better off the line results without losing my mid-range and top end.

"just on take off, poor performance."
Thats cause you took the baffles out.
The back pressure wave is everything for proper scavenging.

If the pipes on your photo are the ones you have on your bike there are two observations I would make. Plain pipes, with or without torque cones, will seriously compromise performance, but in addition, the ends of your pipes are cut at an angle, which is likely to add to your problem.

You have to decide between looks and performance IMHO.

Maybe you should try lollipops...very cheap and will fit in the holes you already have for the baffles.

I'll try the lollipops first since they can done for less than 2 bucks. I wasn't aware the slash cut would affect performance. When i put the bassani pipes on there, i thought i was choosing performance over looks. they're not the best looking pipes out there but i probably should have done a lot more research. i like the sound and the mid and top end they gave me with the baffles out but i guess i can't have bottom, mid, and top all in one....or can i....lol

I put them in my 48. I hole sawed the insert plates out of the stock exhaust for a bit more noise (found the thread on this forum) and put in ones I bought from the local H-D dealer ($35).

Seat of the pants improvement, and I have no drivability issues.

Good luck!
