Problem: When i accelerate there is a rattling noise coming from the left side of the engine. It is not a steady rattling, more like a piece of metal in a glass jar. Only happens when I accelerate rapidly, not on a steady accelerate. Just want to try to fix the problem myself before i have to take it into the dealer. Any thoughts?
Is it a "marbles in a can" sound? Might be detonation...
Mine has been making this noise since I've had it. 21k miles later and no problems. I am looking at rejetting the carb and/or adjusting the fuel mixture to alleviate the carb farts/coughs that have increased since I put on the Big Sucker over the off season.
What is the aforementioned detonation" by the way?
