I assume you are talking about Sportster frame which changed to a rubber mount in 2004.

Yes 2004 and up are the same frame, they have the 150 rear tire. 2007 and up is FI, 2007-2009 have the ECM under the seat, 2010 and up have the ECM behind the engine. Other that that most things are the same. Seats made for the 2004-2006 will not work on the 2007-2009 bikes. Hope this info helps.

very helpful,thanks...
the ? is cause i sat on a 48 at the stealer and it seemed smaller than others...specially liked the fact that feels very light and fits me lots better than my nt (cause of my size)...don't want to pay $13k for one...
would I be somewhat correct saying that if i lower the suspension on a '06 and put a small gas tank, it would feel similar?...not sure if the fat front tire has some to do with it...

The 48 has lowering springs in the forks I think-I know the nighters and Irons do, plus shorter rear shocks. Also the bars are low and the tank is tiny. I have a 07 XL50 1200 and a 08 1200C same engine, same frame, same shocks, but diffetant bars, tank and the C feels much bigger when on it than the XL50. The 2006 is a crabed bike the 48 tank will not work as it's for an FI bike it's a 2.2 gal tank. They did make 06's with the 3.3 gal tank that still looks sweet-that's what my XL50 has and it looks great! You can get the Burly slamer kit for the 06 and it will drop it down, plus get drag bars and you will have the smaller lower feel and look.
