10. Turn the clutch adjusting screw (A, Figure 15) clockwise
and release the ramp (B) and coupling (C). Turn the
clutch adjusting screw clockwise to move the ramp assembly
forward. Then unscrew the nut (D, Figure 15) from the
end of the adjusting screw and remove it.
11. Pivot the hook on the ramp to the rear of the cable end
coupling. Then disconnect and remove the clutch cable
from the slot in the coupling. Remove the coupling and
ramp assembly.

Yeah, you might want to hook up the clutch cable first. You could lose some tranny fluid and it would be a bit sloppy if you put the tranny fluid in first and then try to hook up the clutch cable. In fact, you might want to even adjust the clutch before you add the tranny fluid.
And, btw, the bike needs to be stood upright (not on the side stand) when adding the fluid. Do you have an m/c jack or someone who can hold/sit on the bike while you perform this service?
