well it's here, picked up my 05 1200 custom today :vance and hines pipes, i bought some grips and am planning to TRY and put them on . Are they pretty simple. I have never owned a harley and am not mechanically inclined.also , that seat has to go ,...any sugestions? i'll try to post some pics as soon as it stops rainin[:@]...hope to learn alot from everyone ..thanks
Congratulations on the new bike! First, new handgrips are NOT difficult to install. Take your time (using a factory service manual - a must have for any Harley owner!) and also follow any directions that come with the new grips. I put on a pair of Kuryakyn ISO grips with no previous experience and while it probably took me three times as long as a tech, I did it and did it right - had fun at the same time!
The seat is another question. Very easy to change but not so easy to pick. It depends if you are a solo rider or do two-up. Also what looks you are after. I ride solo all the time, like the look of the Mustang Vintage Solo, so I went with it.
Good luck, and for your own enjoyment, try to do as much on your own bike as you can. It's a great learning experience and fun to boot!
