I'm wanting to get rid of the big ugly stock AC cover...I have an '06, which is carbed, I've added some slip ons and want to know my options. The Xied's won't work for me as I was going to go that route and do an upgrade. SO... I don't want to deal with re-jetting the carb or whatever. Not really looking at gaining performance it's purely for looks only.
Yes, I like mreed's DIY and was going to do that but I was under the impression that if more air is going in it would throw off the fuel mixture and I would have to re-jett the carb. Is this true? I'm looking for a small closed cover to just replace the stock one.
Almost any aftermarket AC is going to flow better than the stocker and with the slip ons a rejet MAY need to be rejetted. You might not need a rejet but maybe just enrichen the A/F mixture a little but you won't really know until you do it. I went up to 1250 and have a Ness BS and still run a 42 pilot jet.
