As I posted earlier, my Sportster makes that chirping/squealing sound on hard acceration. Guess what, the Super Glide makes the exact same squealing noise. It's not a spark knock/ pinging/ predetonation sound, I'm familiar with that rattling sound in cars.
I'm leaning towards it coming from the intake. Maybe the sound of air flowing through the butterfly, fuel injector noise, I'm not really sure what it is but I think it's normal, just like all the other weird noises Harleys make.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I believe this is the sound I may be hearing as well. Would non ethanol gas be a better fuel? And would Xieds help? Don't want to ruin my motor.
I can’t believe how common this is! I expected you guys would suggest I have my hearing checked. Instead, I see a lot of you have the same issue.
I have an 04 Electra Glide and I have the same chirpingsound. “Sorta likethe noise that comes from a Styrofoam cooler vibrating. High pitch chirping”.
I tried checking all of the bolts, I wiggled the pipes to see if the rubber bumper was squeaking and I even put a little white lithium grease on the rubber. Still, I hear the chirping.
Nowthat I hear it, it’s bugging me. I hopethere is a fix out there.
Noticed this about a month or two ago but whenever I accelerate hard, I hear kind of a clicking/ticking/metal clanking/chirping noise from the left. Only happens during hard acceleration though. Gradual acceleration doesn't seem to cause this and when I pull in the clutch so the gears aren't engaged and open up the throttle, no noise either.
So basically, when in gear, during hard acceleration there's a chirping/clicking noise.
Any ideas on what this could be? It's kind of hard to hear it sometimes from the pipes, engine, and wind noise but it's definitely there.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Brother, I got the exact same thing?? It only happens when I crank it, and it comes from the left and sounds like b-b's are tinging around on the gas tank.
