Default Really dissappointed with my windshield

Bought a decent windshield off e-bay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harle...item20b386113f

Says $149 there but I paid $109 for mine. Anyways ....the wind buffet off this thing is ridiculous. It is so bad that it makes it nearly worthless. I'd rather ride with out one now.

I have it set up so the top is below my eye sight. Tonight when it isn't so damn hot out I'm going to raise it up so it is above my eye sight. Hoping that'll help.

Seriously ....the buffet off this thing shakes the entire bike and if I have a head wind ...OMFG .... ....rattles my head too

Theres got to be a better way....

Invest in a set of lowers it helps tremendously. My old bike was so bad I would almost throw up because it would shake my head...after I got a set of lowers installed it was smooth sailing.

After some reading it appears the my windshield is creating a low pressure zone right behind it. The buffeting is coming from the side because the air is trying to fill in the void.

I'm reading that some people have added vents to their windshield to allow air in and reduce that low pressure area. Some people even drilled holes into the windshield ...lol

I know that they are expensive, but the Harley quick detach windsield I bought (the lowest height one which you look over, not through), has been great with respect to creating a wind free zone without buffeting up to 85 MPH (haven't had the opportunity to go faster for extended periods on my current tour). I am 5' 9", and using my hand to feel the wind it feels like there are 2-3 inches above the top of my helmet that are also wind free.

Had good luck with my Memphis Shades Slim 17" Liked it so well on my Sporty got the same one for the FXR.. Although except for the long haul ran without one on either one, it's quick detach as well, so if like it never have to take it off ...

I'm not a fan of the look of windshields (or bags, but I kept them on because of the convenience). I nevertheless thought about getting a quick detach one for long rides at highway speeds. But I've read this same complaint so many times on this forum that I don't think I'll ever get one. I wear a FF helmet instead on long trips and enjoy the wind. If I want to be completely out of the wind, I take the cage.

I have used some sort of windshield on most of my bikes for over 40 years now. They can take some getting used to, but are worth trying different things, such as height and the angle they rake back. Sometimes quite small changes can have a big benefit. Spend a little time looking at it, to see what you can do with the brackets.

I fitted a batwing to my Glide, but raked the windshield back at a greater angle than it is intended (it's early 80s, with the shield mounted separate from the fairing). I also have a qd factory shield on my SuperLow and I'm quite pleased with that. It is good for similar speeds to those montelatici reports.

One of the reasons why I got my bike was to get beat up by the wind going 70+ mph

You wearing a FF helmet behind that shield? You can raise and lower it a few inches which may change the air flow.
I have a detachable and I have zero buffeting, but dont wear a FF.
My other bike has a Memphis Shades shorter sport shield, and the one time I wore my ole ladies FF, it bounced be around like crazy. But notta with my skid lid.
