I usually like a riser bolt that's a little long with apes. Loosen the bottom bolts, position the bars where you want them, tighten the top clamps and then torque the bottom 2 bolts. Your bars will NEVER move.

 

Ok, I'll try that, thanks mreed. Any idea why I can't tighten the left riser bolt anymore?

 

I think I know your problem. The left and right riser bolts need to be tightened before the bar clamp gets tightened. I ran across this thread while searching for something. Remember that the top clamp is one connecting both sides but the risers themselves are separated. I think one of your risers is cocked a little. So loosen your bar clamp and then tighten the riser. If the clamp isnt tight already then only other thing it could be is your bolts are wrong thread. I also suggest running your wires through those bars while the bars are off the bike.
