The rear shocks sucked on my "C", Im glad I changed them out. Just wish I would have done it before15,000 miles.

I think that forwards are a must on a sporty but that's just my opinion. Best advice is to ride it and if you feel cramped get forwards. Ride and if if you think the suspension is not working for you change it. If you like the way it is then keep it and spend your money on other things that you don't like.

Ride the bike, put at least 500 miles on it before changing anything.

Pick the ONE thing that bothers you the most (seat comfort, bar position, foot control position, etc....). Change ONLY that one thing, and then do another few hundred miles.

Rinse, repeat.

Don't change multiple things at once, because they are always linked. The bars that feel cramped might feel perfect once you install a new seat. Those forward controls that you think might be nice, might feel mandatory with new bars, etc....

Thats exactly what I will do....

Nevertheless I am almost 100% sure that due to the conditions of the roads down here I will be forced at some point to change the suspenssions....anybody out there with progressive 412 at 12.5 inches? any recommendations?

I was set to order a set of 12.5" 412s for my Iron also, until I put on the Mustang seat....it transformed the entire bike. Bumps that used to be spine shattering are now just "kinda bad", and the "kinda bad" bumps get soaked up by that seat like they weren't even there.

I'll still probably install the 12.5" 412s at some point, but changing the seat moved new rear shocks from my "absolutely must have as soon as possible" list to my "nice to have later on" list.

I ordered it straight from Mustang. If you call them and order by phone, they offer you UPS Ground shipping for $1!

http://www.mustangseats.com/

The model is the Wide Solo, here is my review of it:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...ron-883-a.html

Installation takes 30 seconds.

1) Unbolt the factory seat screw on the rear of the seat.

2) Lift the seat off by pulling up and rearward.

3) Slide the new seat on, aligning the front seat tab into the steel seat bracket just below the front edge of the tank.

4) Push down and forward on the seat until it fully settles into place.

5) Re-insert the factory seat screw with a small dab of blue locktite.
