I know i have more to take than to give in this forum, but it will change soon enough i promise, but after searching, i cant find a vacuum diagram from my 97 sportster.
I have vacuum lines all over the place. one fro the fuel petcock that goes into a T and one line goes into the top of the carb, and the other runs back to an unknown location. and i found another at the bottom of the carb, that just hangs there, and i can't find a spot for it.
Have you picked up the shop manual yet? HD service manuals are actually really good, and should have exactly what you need. I would ask your dealer if they have any. The HD part number for your manual is 99484-97.

The one that comes out of the bottom of the carb is the overflow tube. It there so if your float gets stuck, the fuel will run out on the ground and not into the jugs.......
