Default Back Pressure

need help i have a 1986 sportster 1200 straight pipes need to know about back pressure was told to drill 1/4 inch hole in pipe and put nut and bolt on it and it would give me the right back pressure plesase give advice

Anything that restricts the flow of air through the exhaust will create more back pressure. I have heard of guys tuning their exhaust perfectly using this method.

There might already be holes in them. Check the under side/bike side near the end of the pipes. Mine have holes from the original baffles.

What I have done for friends is weld a 1/2" washer or smaller to the end of a 1/4-20 bolt, put through the pipe tighten the nuts and off you go. It will still be loud but give you some much needed back pressure .
