That would be nice to have now and then. There is an intersection in western Ann Arbor, Michigan where the left turn signal will not turn no matter how long I sit there. I've tried backing up, moving forward, putting the bike on it's stand, nothing works. I end up turning on red once I see no po-po's around. Now I just avoid that intersection.
Our traffic lights in New Orleans are run by an uncaring computer that really doesn't give a crap about anyone wasting fuel sitting with no traffic comming and let through only to stop a bunch of oncomming cars. I am positive they are set up to favor traffic comming into the city in the morning and leaving in the evening, but the program just sucks at mid day traffic control. You can catch no lights, or every single one of them.
It actually worked better for the six months after Katrina when there were NO traffic lights and very few cops. People were quite civil with the default stop and go rules. Not so great for a clutch though. Best was that if no one was coming you could slow and go.
On a similar token, does anyone have problems with parking garage arms not opening for you? I frequently end up getting the parking attendant to open the entrance arm so I can go out. [sm=kissykissy.gif]
crossing a magnet over the sensor should be better although I have not worked on these kind of circuits, the theroy is still the same. I don't have this problem but would like to see a test. I have a light near my house the next time I'm on 2nd shift I'll park on the side and walk up with a magnet and see if I can trip it. I like gothmetalguitarist's idea keep the magnet away from oil
Illinois
The October 1998 edition of "Rules Of The Road", the Illinois Driver's Manual, says:
Care must be taken when making a U-turn. You must not turn around on curves and hills unless you can see for at least 500 feet in all directions. Municipalities may prohibit U-turns on some roadways.
Chicago has a no u-turn law. The rest of illinois? I don't live in Chicago, I make u-turns unless there is a sign that says no u-turn
