I started mine up right away. They'll smoke like crazy but it'll be fine.

just an old tread pattern. These tires are super popular in the chop community. Tons of dudes running them and never a bad thing to say about them other than you'll only get about 6k miles out of them depending on how hard your ride. They're rather sticky especially in the middle of the summer so they grip surprisingly well in the corners but then again I'm not leaning it like my track bike either.
6K......isn't that what most owners are getting out of their stock tires?
I was told I'd get about 8k......10k at the most out of my OEM's.

Start it up right away. The heat and smoke allows them to shrink and conform to the pipes. Stop worrying. We wouldn't steer you wrong.....

Using water for the exhaust wrap really depends on which wrap you buy. The thicker old style wrap will need water added to make it form nicely to the contours of the pipe. The newer style wrap which feels thinner doesn't need water at all, it is very pliable and dry it forms easier than old style thick wrap when the old stuff is wet.

The newer style is on the left, old to the right.

See how flimsy the newer style is.

I wet mine (maybe had the old style) and it was a helluva mess. But if yours says no water you could do it dry. Either way wear gloves of some sort. I used heavy duty black rubber but you might get away with latex. Fiberglass plays hell with your hands.

Plan the wrap. Figure out how you're gonna do each tube before you commit to wrapping. If you do it dry I imagine you can do it over fairly easily but a little planning will save you time in the long run. Yours are gonna be single pipes so they should go quickly and easily. That 2 into 1 bullshit was a bitch. A lot of people say start at the rear of the pipe and work your way forward. That way the air doesn't work on the wrap over time and cause it to peel. Personally I don't think it matters. I had to do mine from the front due to having to extend the wrap beyond the 2 into 1 joint and there's no way to make the transition from two pipes to one going from the rear. I haven't had any issues with mine peeling from the wind. Stuff is still tight as the day I did it.

Good luck bmx. I can't wait to see how they turn out man.

Also, I let mine dry real well...maybe a day or two, and then painted them with some flat black header paint. I used black wrap but after the water bath and the wrapping process it was more of a light grey. The paint darkened them up nicely. Then when you fire it up they REALLY smoke.

Don't know what color you're doing but just a thought.

I didn't wear gloves, wrapped 'em wet, and they turned out fine with no damage to my hands. Dunno, everyone's different I guess. But gloves are a safe bet.
