First 1000mile service, pretty pleased with local HD
This last Friday i took my Sporty in for the first 1000 mile service. I am stationed in Germany and only choice i had was the dealer. I could of did the service myself but figured I'd let my dealer do it, just so its on record. Price well you really dont want to know. but was 200euro, about $270.00. Synthetic oils, chrome oil filter. They even drilled the idle mixture cover for me, carb need some adjustment like i told them. Now i am ready for upgrades, V&H short shots staggered exhaust. I must say I was pretty pleased with their work. When i picked the bike up it had been washed up and sitting on their show room floor.
So a big plus goes out to my local German H-D dealer, timely service and quality work. Going home i noticed the bike ran smoother, engine sounded smooth maybe alittle more pick up on topend. Autobahn rides should be fun.

Glad to read a good review for a dealer. There is no shortage of people bad mouthing delaerships and their services. And a few are warranted. We are lightning quick to cast stones but we rarely spend a lot of time commenting when something happens as we expect it to.
I left a superior dealership on the east coast. Since I moved to the left coast, its been a different story. I don't blame the democrats, Californians, the motor company, or anyone else. The delaers and their employees are humans. As such, not all will be stellar performers.
Price sounds about normal for 1000 mile service without a coupon, adjusted for inflation, bearing in mind your location.

While I am here, how many of you have the idle mixture plug installed from the factory? We do not have a mixture plug on the carb for all the Canadian models here.

You're actually lucky being in Germany. A domestic dealer can't (legally) drill out that idle mixture screw. That's why the bike ran better.
not to split hairs here - however - the dealer is the one who did the stage 1 - they did it legally by their point of view - on the jet kit it is very specific that the mod is intended for RACE APPLICATIONS - now it is up to the user to use as intended[8D]

Well really there was no stage 1 done, yes i do have the SE aircleaner, still stock pipes. I only went in for a service and mentioned i need maybe a carb adjustment. Mechanic said maybe adjust the choke, cause i was having cold start problems. Gets pretty cold here some days. Legally or not, Harley did the work. I was just looking over the bike, saw they removed the cover cap. Its on paper, really it just saves me time when i do the exhaust, now all i have to do it change a jet and adjust as nessesary.
