Well I wanted to put V&H Short Shots on my bike, but they are a lot of money and am wondering about cycle shack slipons. Has anyone had any experience with these slipons?
Yep...have the Baloney Slice. They have a great sound...but they are loud for sure. I had 1 weird thing happen with mine. I used Mother's polish on them on a spot and they turned yellowish in the area that I used the polish. I had used Mother's on the stock shields and also on other bikes without problems. Thought I had marred my one pipe for good. Then all the sudden after a couple rides, I noticed it was black were the yellow had been (and of course I'm really upset now.) I took glass cleaner and wiped down the pipes, the black came off and they were good as new again. I had tried washing the yellowed area with soap and water and it didn't remove it. So, for the money...I don't think you can go wrong with them. Just don't use polish on them.
Thanks for the response outdoorgirl... next stop to the HD dealer... im sure they're gonna tell me i need a new aircleaner and remap which will add to the cost... [&:]
Your right Randy, the dealers will tell you exactly that. But from everything I have read, if you only do the exhaust, then the remap(Stage 1 ECM download) won't need to be done.
Randy: I have had the same set of Cycle Shack Turn Outs on my XL1200R and my wife's XL883C. They were great on the 1200, but for some reason or another are PERFECT on the 883. They sound better, the bike runs great and they really offset the Grey Pearl paint job. I am sold on them all over again. ................... BC
I've got CS turn-outs on my Sporty. Wife has CS slash (baloney) on hers. Both sound great. Hers are a tad louder but mine have a slightly deeper growl to them.
Can't beat it for the price. If you only do the exhaust you can get by without the remap and Stage I air cleaner.
Do yourself a flavor and get the V&H Straight Shot Slip On's. They sound nice, perform well, and they don't break the bank at 189.00 as seen on eBay. Also, when installed, they don't look like big balloons at the end of stock header pipes as they are about the same O/D as the stock header pipes from Harley. I think they look nicer than most other slip on's and the fit and finish at the end is a near identical look to that of drag pipes. Mine are being installed tomorrow along with Stage 1 kit and a remap with dyno session. Don't know about you, but I want that extra horsepower.
The Cycle Shacks probably make as much or more power than any slipon after stage one is complete. You can't beat them for the price. Also, I'm glad I got an '06 with carb. Re-jet is simple, Stealer gets zilch. Life is good.
