Default im torn....

im doin a springer seat and wanna chop and mount the fender lower to the tire or on the swingarm....i just torn on rear suspension options. ive read through lots of threads that kinda hint here and there but i didnt want to highjack someones thread to ask my q's. i love the look of struts but fear im not gonna like the ride and i dont know if burlys are worth the money for a half inch of lowering....my shocks measure 11" eye to eye without me sitting on it..the burlys say 10.5...the only other option are the lowering brackets...which are the best brand to go with? the bike is a 2010 iron...

thanks in advance for opinions and personal experience...

I have brackets on my bike. Brought it a lot lower then I expected. I think it looks better, but the draw back is now I bottom out if I hit a big bump, and can't really go 2up. unless she's under 100lbs. Good thing I don't go 2up very often.

Lick's sell 10" shocks. Don't do solid struts. Everyone has them then tosses them - myself included. You could always mount your fender to the swingarm. It will have no travel then and you could put it super close to the tire. Lots of people do that.

Indeed,... don't do solid struts.. or.. try them, hit a bridge overpass at 80 MPH... survive.. then go back to lowered shocks..

"Everyone" is pretty presumptuous. I have struts and I find them more than tolerable. Not to say they're great by any means, but it's what I expected. Plus, he wants a spring seat, and the combination is pretty solid.
