Default Drag Bars

Hey everyone. I am new here and have been reading a ton but can't find my answer. I am dumb about this stuff. I want to do drag bars on my 09 Iron. I am relocating speedo this week. I was thinking 32" bars. A few questions. I don't need risers if I don't want them right? I will have the clearance? Also, my existing cables will do even with 32" right? Any suggestions ona nice, cheap, black, drag bar? Last, Ive been looking at Custom Chrome's site. What is difference between wiring recess and no wiring recess on bar? Which do I need? Thanks everyone!

Not true drag bars, but close... http://www.jpcycles.com/product/503-868

Much more comfortable and installed on this bike. (You need bars with dimples unless you plan to wire internal)

Not sure about everything else, but you can find cheap drag bars on ebay.

I think drag bars should be close to what you have on right now. And the wiring recess, or indent is a elongated dent under the bar that the wiring fits in to so it stays under the clamps or housings. You can find some bars on www.debrix.com

32" with dimples from Jo cycles were like 30 bucks to my door and fit perfectly fine. No issues what so ever. Took all of about 20 minutes to swap everything over. Get the 2" pullback as well to help with the comfort factor.

I have the 32" from J&P also, I just put them on a few weeks ago. They list them as "universal" drag bars. You need the dimpled bars for your wires, sometimes they are called recessed like the ones you are looking at.

On my XL1200C switching from stock to the 32" drags was pretty easy, I did not need any extended cables or wires. Mine were also knurled, don't know if it's necessary, but since my stock bars were knurled, I made sure the drags I got were also knurled.

I have a stock riser with some pullback built into it, but if I didn't, I'd probably have problems with my turn signals hitting the tank with the lower drags. I got a kit to relocate them to the forks anyway... something to think about if your signals are on your bars. I think the kit was $20, the bars at J&P were $30 (chrome).

I love the look of them, but 32" is pretty wide, I've let a few people sit on my bike to see how the felt and most of them found them too wide. I've got long arms, and they are a lot better for me than the stock ones were.

I snapped a couple before work, these are 32" wide, with 4" pullback on the stock riser (2006 XL1200C). Still haven't tied up the wires or decided on flipping the mirrors. Might not do either.
