I have a set of leather pros bags that are quick detach and I can still use my quick detach sissy bar for the wife with the bags on...they are semi rigid and look good, they are the ones you see in my bike pix and profile pic
I was just checking out the 2012 Harley catalog for a part # of a bag system I bought 4 years ago for my Sporty but it seems that all their current luggage are new items. Sliding over the sissybar pad and sitting on the luggage rack would allow for the largest bag. Make sure you get a quality bag! You don't wanna be zipping down the highway dragging your bag behind you!! (been there - done that) A pullover rain shield would be prefered. I am partial to the Harley brand (having tried other less expensive). I got rid (Craigs listed) of my luggage a couple of years ago when I got my bagger.
BTW - cargo net everything after mounted. This also allows you to bundle (jackets and such) all your crap during the day on top of the bag and adds extra attachment security.
i get it... i also have xelement bags (larger than those posted)- the largest bags i can find and they were $80. they are in the pic in my sig below... i cut them apart and mounted them with easybrackets. its like two suitcases with handles on the top that lift on and off of the bike. i can lock them on if i want. i also have a bag that can sit on the rack and attaches to the sissy bar, or i can put it on the +2 seat if i dont have anyone on the back. yes, i did move the rear signal lights... really no big deal and i like the look so much better- i attached them to a lay-down plate.

But because I don't like the look of saddlebags I am going to sell those and instead go with a Kriega US30 and US10 tail pack..
How do the Walmart bags fit with the turnsignals and shocks? I have the matching tail bag which I like and have been considering the Walmart saddlesbags but am concerned that they will not fit properly.

Also, thanks for the tip on the backpack.
The fit perfectly. It has straps that I strapped around the turn signal stalks.
I had zero issues with the shocks, license plate, and signals. Took 5 minutes to fully strap on and 1 minute to pull off.
Had the bike over 80+ on the highway and forgot the bags were even there.
I've got one of these http://ogio.com/power/tail-bag and I find myself rigging up a backrest out of extra crap that I don't need, i should have spent the money on the bikers friend and had it incorporated.
www.donscycleware.com has nice, quality stuff but it looks like his inventory is low right now
