I bought a chubby 12 inch apes, it's kinda wide-ish, not narrow like the burly or licks bars.
I was researching online and the results were actually quite different.
Some said 43 inch long throttle cables would be good, some said 53.
I'm just wondering if anyone with the same setup as me and had installed 12 inch apes can provide some lengths of cables that I will need to buy so I can order them soon.
I have a 2005 883 custom, and will be clamping the bars on the custom riser (4.5 inches i think). nothing else will be changed aside from the wires, cables and brake line.
So if you could, please provide lengths of brake line, clutch cable, and throttle cable.
The way I did it was to put the bars on first then measure it with a tape measure. When the bars are off you can also trial fit them with the cables. Measure the stock length and see what the length is and add as needed.
I purchased the Burly kit with all the bells and whistles, but sum hav had sum problems with the kit. I hav only had problems with the clutch cable, ie had to adjust it a few times but thats no biggie. But I agree with aklim for the fit you want. Good luck and lets see sum pics when done.
