sometimes in cars the old gross fluid is pretty much the only thing holding **** together. once you change it out all the "gunk" that was holding it together because of maluse or not changing the fluid comes out leaving the damage.
Also when people switch from dino oil to a synthetic it can clean some gunk out and cause issues as well (as well as oil leaks as far as oil goes)
you could pull the cover and inspect everything or change the fluid again to see if anything gross comes out. really though you could start will small stuff and work your way up. fluid, clutches things like that. Bikes are really easy to work on... just have to go slow and if you are not sure what to do... look in a manual and take lots of pictures for your sake. you wouldn't believe how nice it is to look back at a picture for reference when you get lost
I don't think it was THAT far gone, but it did have about thirteen-fourteen thousand miles on it when I changed it out I think, and I'm not sure if it had ever even been changed out before. It wasn't really gunky, but it was a gray color and had a thick consistency. But not REALLY thick.
I haven't noticed any leaks thankfully.
I will probably pull the cover tomorrow, as well as check the fluid level. I will also look through my book some to see if I can find anything. I think it may be a bearing or something though...
Could be a few things if you don't know what your doing and don't have anyone around who does I would bring it to a mechanic ... Better than making it worse IMO good luck
Well, I'm no expert mechanic or anything, but nor am I completely lacking in the skill either. I prefer to do my own work if at all possible and I do have a book on it, but alas, there is only so much a yard mechanic can do... Anyway, thanks for the comment.
Never mind people, everything's fine now (I think).
I checked it out today and the primary fluid was fine besides smelling slightly foul. I will change it out again soon. I took it for a ride and everything was fine. I didn't hear the friction noise anymore. I think that it could have been a stick or something that was stuck in there...
