Default cv carb float pin stuck..

I'm working on a buddy's 04 1200 sportster with a cv kiehn carb. I have worked on many carbs in the past and the float pin simply falls right out of place to remove the float. This carb is not gummed up at all and the pin is stuck fast and will no budge. I do not want to break anything in this carb forcing it out. I am aware it only comes out the direction of the arrow. Anyone ever have this problem?

Try using a small punch and very carefully knock it out.

sometimes it is actually the float that is binding on the rod/pin...give it a close look see.....either way, usually a gentle shove with a punch or even a small brad or piece of wire will free it....

I had the same thing this morning, used a small nail and small hammer to tap it until it moved, then it was easy.

I just had the same, had to use a jewelers driver and a hammer to push it out, but unfortunately the PO had put the pin in backwards (tapered end in last) and the pin just would not budge, one of the supports just broke off the bottom of the carb. Any ideas on a fix or is this a carb replacement?

I've fixed many float pivot stanchions using JBWeld ... Many get over zealous knocking the pin out ... ALWAYS support the stanchion before tapping on them. JBWeld will work if you give it time to set up.
