Risers help
Hey guys I know that I definetely need some risers, but I'm still pretty much a newbie, I'm riding an Iron 883 '12 what would I need to know before I jump on this? I was considering something like this

So as far as install is this something that I could do myself? It seems like a simple bolt on job. What do I need to know before I jump on this? Or what should I consider?

Risers are pretty easy to put on. The main thing that you need to keep in mind is that the pull back risers will change the angle of your speedometer since the speedometer (not sure about 2012's but on other models) mounts to the risers. On my 08 with pullback risers the speedometer was almost vertical. I got around it by mounting the speedometer above the headlight eyebrow. Just something to keep in mind if you are wanting pullbacks. I really like my pullback risers though.
They are a pretty straight-forward install on your Iron.
Another option, that is even easier, is to get riser extensions. You already have a couple inch rise on your stock set-up and you can get extensions from 1" up to 3" in 1/2" increments.
This is less expensive, MUCH faster, and gives you more flexibility in getting your handlebars right where you want them.
I think the first thing you should consider is exactly where is the most comfortable location for your grips to be.

This is the way that has always worked for me to get the most comfortable handlebar position-
Sit on your bike
Have someone hold it up straight for you
Put your feet on the pegs
Close your eyes
Put your hands out to where it is most comfortable to hold them
Open your eyes...where ever your hands are, that is where you want the handlebar grips to be.

If the risers are round, you can use a couple of cable clamps to mount the speedo bracket.
The pullback risers I bought happened to be oval shaped. Maybe that's a stronger design, but cable clamps won't work.
Mounting on the eyebrow worked, except I'm running the dual gauge (tach and speedo), and it won't clear my windshield.

I have the DK Custom 2" Stealth Risers on my Nightster and they are awsome... you cant even tell they are not a part of the Stock risers unless you really look

Yes, the Riser Extensions will work for your 2014 Iron, and they will not impact the angle of the speedo
