Default Plug Wire Help

Will automotive plug wires work on our bikes? I am going to re-locate my coil inside my cowbell. I bought a universal plug wire kit. I read it on a previous post about the same thing. But, on the coil end of the wire, the copper thing inside looks bigger than the plug wire I currently have. Any thoughts or ideas. Am I way off with this?

I cut and shortened my stock ones. Regular car wires WILL work.

Back in the day they used to sell a roll of wire and you had to make them to your own length

I do recomend DK Customs Universal Set, the wires are long enough for any application, and they come with high quality boots and ends.

The difference I can see is, the auto wires are made to connect to a distributor. The motorcycle wires are made to snap into a coil. Is that about right? Where do I get the correct ends?

I guess I could cut the plug end off and re do that part. That way the coil end would be the same.

Yes you could ,Yes the coil ends are different but they are like the late model GM cars/trucks that still have coils and wires. You can buy just the ends you need, places like Summit or Jegs not sure if you can get them at a parts store

Just happened to be doing a tune up on a KIA thought I would shoot you this pic, same ends on the wire for the coil end so it shouldn't be too hard to find something that would work.

Yes, car plugs work just fine. Try a local Auto Zone. Should be able to get any length you need with correct ends.

+1 on the DK Customs universal. Real easy to adjust the length and fairly priced too.
