I'm wanting to switch to mini apes in the worst way! Time to get rid of the buckhorns. I'm looking at Harley part #56563-95. They're supposed to have a 9.75 rise on them. I've swapped out my grips and removed my speedo, upper clamp, and mirrors, and that is all I know about the handle bars. Treat me like I'm dumb, because with this, I am. I need to do this as inexpensive as possible so that the wife doesn't grump about it. With this size rise, I can get away with using my factory cables (clutch and throttle) right? Brake line may have to be straightened some, but can be retained, right? And perhaps most importantly, will I need to readjust the throttle and clutch cables to make them work properly? I'd prefer to avoid going to the dealer if I have to to have any of this done. I'm 5'7"-5'8", so this set sounds ideal for me. I apologize for the lengthy and possibly repetative questions, but a search didn't really clarify things for me. I should also add that my ride is a 2002 hugger. Thanks to all!!
Im pretty sure those are the same I have and I changed the brake line just because I had it already. The rest reaches but with the clutch cable it has to go on the inside of the handle bars(meaning towards you) and unclipped from the frame. My clutch lever is tilted down some to help. I dont think the stock brake line will fit just because of the amount of pull back those have.(but I could be wrong) besides the stock line will look like crap and you will be disappointed. If you need to buy a new brake line or want to look into magnum shielding they sell on amazon too. I have a 40 inch brake line but others have used shorter ones. I hope this helps.
Here you can see my clutch cable.

It does, somewhat, thank you. Did you swap the bars yourself? If so, did you have to do any adjustment to the accel. or clutch cables? If I need to swap the brake hose, I guess I'd better find out how to bleed the front brake too.
your bike looks great, btw
Yes swapped it myself, no adjustments needed. I just undid the screws holdint everything on and put them on the new bars. I found squeezing the brake lever then open the bleeder screw then close it then release lever. Also put a line from the bleeder screw to inside a bottle of brake fluid so air doesnt get sucked back up into the line. Oh and dont forget new crush washers.
