I am sure this has been talked about over and over, but didnt have much luck doing a search. I am wanting to put a round open filter air cleaner on my nightster. My question is which size filter do you guys have and how do you like them. I like a few styles that come with 8" filters and am worried about it interfering with the leg room. The 4" definately would not get in the way just curious if you guys had any issues with a larger or smaller one. Any thought are appreciated. Thanks

I've been happy so far with my Vance and Hines VO2. It's made to be run open, but can be used with any single bolt cover. I chose it because it was pretty cheap at $110 and was a complete kit. If I had the extra $$ I would have chose the DK setup posted above.
It still sticks out a bit, but I don't hit it with me knee like I did with the stock ham can. I took a few pics when I installed it for another forum...
This is the shows the carb support plate, and breather hoses. There is an aluminum venturi that goes on top of that plate, and then another mounting plate for the filter:
This shows the filter installed, you can leave it like this. I like that the filter is black:
I got this "skullcap" for it, you can get it in black, I went with chrome since I have a Custom. As you can see, it only covers the top:

This place has 4 inch and 5 inch round units. A forward swept (similiar to Harley's Heavy Breather), too. The 4" will flow plenty of air. Outstanding customer service, quality material with excellent engineering and machine work 100% Made in the USA. No breather hoses running all over. They give you your choice of powder coat color and other face design options as well.
Check 'em out: Figure Machine (clicky)
Here's an example of their 4"

Dang! Thanks for the replies guys. Now you all gave me even more options. I was already having troubles making a decision now you all throw all these options in lol. I am really liking the dk customs at the moment
