Got the same problem as you on a 2011 Sportster 1200C, only got 1400 km on it. The bike dies a couple of times while driving and then the fuel pump stopped working. First I though it was the security system, then maybe the battery and now I'm pretty sure it's the relays. Heard bad relays can cause the battery to drain. Anyway, won't start now so ordered some new relays. No dealers around here so have to figure it out myself. It's a pain in the neck, I can tell you that and this should not happen on a brand new bike!

Keep us informed on what's happening and hope we'll be riding again soon. Not making the same impression riding the bus...

lol. yea, i hear that. i will let you know as soon as i find out what it is. i don't have an alarm. do have have relocated LP/turn signals? just curious what other similarities there are. how do you wash the bike? do you ride in the rain? how long have you been having these problems? did it ever stall while idling?

aren't m/c gang dudes (especially prospects) expected to turn wrenches on their own bikes? maybe you can ride on the back of one of your fellow prospect's bikes?

no bottom rocker for you!

I am assuming the bike died while driving because of the bad relays; which caused the battery to get empty. Sometimes relay contacts can fail to release causing a drain. Make sure you check if your battery is actually charging while driving, once you get your bike back, otherwise you might get stranded again.

Getting my relays on Thursday and keeping my fingers crossed. No upgrades on my bike yet and no relocated turn signals. Water intrusion into the fuse panel seems the most likely. We will soon find out...

first of all it's not a gang... it's a mc made of of all military. second of all, ALL of the work that has been done to my bike has been done by me with the exception of the turn signal relocation and my 1000 mile service. reason for this? because I don't own a lift and i don't own a heat gun. for the relocation the bike needs to be lifted, rear wheel dropped, wires cut, spliced and shrink wrapped. decent lift here in hawaii cost about $250, and a good adjustable heat gun is about another $150, If I had the tools and I wanted to take the time to do it, then I certainly would have done it myself, but I wanted it done now so that I could put my saddlebags on. That being said, I am new to motorcycles, especially working on them. I made the decision to have the stealer do it because i thought it would be the best way to get it done quick. after all, isn't that what these guys get paid to do? work on harleys? if the part had not been a genuine harley part i can see the difficulty, but it was. the reason that I am not trying to fix it this go around on my own is because i'm pretty sure whatever they did is causing the problems that i am having. i really think that there is an electrical short some where, after swapping the relays and no result. when i was having issues with my Fuelpak and going back and forth over the phone with Vance and Hines, they told me that there were no more adjustments to make to correct the issues that I was having. They said that it sounded like there was a grounding issue on my bike. the bike worked fine with the Fuelpak installed before I took it to the dealer to have this work done. since the bike is only 6 months old and should be covered under warranty, having the stealer fix it is in my opinion the best answer.

Thank you for your opinion though, you are certainly entitled to it. And I'm entitled to tell you to F*** off.

I hope it works out for you. Let me know what happens. I have two spares now so that in the future it will be the first thing I try when this happens again.

So what is the dealer saying???
Here is what happened to me today. Iron 883 1000miles. Bike started to run slower at idle, felt like it was going to die, then battery light comes on with engine light had to turn around and start driving back before it dies on me.
I did ride it a couple of weeks ago under heavy rain.
bringing it in tomorrow...
