ronn39,

A friend of mine had a Mustang with ape hangers. We would swap my Hummer and his Mustang...what a blast we had.....1957. How did we survive without all this government intervention ???

Amazing, ain't it? Of course in those days, the speed limit was a lot lower and fairly well enforced, so the level of danger on the road wasn't quite so high. Lot less traffic and much better road manners. People actually used hand turn signal, even when it rained. One of the riding buddies had a '53 BSA 150 two-cycle (which smoked like a train!) and the other had a hopped-up Cushman (he still couldn't keep up and it was a lot more dangerous a ride on the road than the rest of us had).

But today good 'ol Uncle Sam takes care of us all. And with the way people drive today, it might be a good thing. [&:]

I had a mini bike. Then moved up to a Honda 50 street and trail at about 10 years old.My brother rode it and blew out the cam gear.I tore it apart and fixed it.Then I went on to a Kawasaki 250 dirt bike. Then a Husky 250 cr.That bike would pull the front wheel in sixth gear. Then I bought my first street bike a 1986 Suzuki 250 GT.It was a two stroke and would run against any 500 cc bike at the time.My next bike was a 1988 883 Hugger. Now I ride a 2006883 low in fire red pearl with plenty of skulls.

It was a brand new, polished, 1972 Harley 1200 FX SuperGlide.

Installed 4" over tubes and chromed front highway pegs on it, and I put a lot of miles on it.... Coast to coast many times..

There were a number of guys in the Club I was with back that hadthe '72 FX's, and they were a hot item..

That was a nice bike, and like an idiot I got rid of it.

I think is was a Simplex... made the 5hp street legal thing... straight drive...

I'd run from New Orleans to Bay St. Louis, MS every weekend @ 35mph on the highway...

It died an early death... early 60's...
