You can build them up to not only keep up, but leave them off the line. Top end speed, no way you will match a Jap crotch rocket. 1250 engine with 883 gearing, is pretty bad *** off the line. I mess with crotch rockets frequently from traffic lights. They are high horsepower, low torque engines. They have to get the rpm levels up before the power curve kicks in. Harley is exact opposite. High torque, and lower horsepower.

Default How About?

How about this! Very few "other" bikes would be able to keep up with you. Nothing quite like a pair of pulse jet engines to wake up the beast!!

You can do anything you want to a sporty as long as you hVe unlimited funds. Get some sort of turbo/nos system. Then get a custom made carbon fiber frame and everything you can carbon fiber. However, it will be an uphill battle. For everybody modification you make. There is a bad a$$ haybusa (sp) with other mods.

I have friends that have sportsbikes and I used to ride with them on my sporty and there was no way I could keep up with them. Now, from light to light I could see it but I know they were not trying to leave me behind.

The whole concept of aerodynamics will make it hard for you to keep up even If you have the same torque and hp.

Bikes are like guns. Each gun has a purpose. You won't find a gun that will be for every need you have.

Enjoy the sporty and if the bug catches you then save a little money and buy a sportsbikes.

Before I get flamed let me say this, I do believe there are a lot brothers in this forum that have very fast sporty. I am not saying they are not fast. Now within the cruiser category. They might be the fastest. But it's tough to compete with a sportsbikes.

Remember its the journey not the destination.
