Wow 182 HP thats insane out of a little sporty!!! Also reliability must be compromised a tad bit if you're constantly running on boost, BUT the upside is, nobody is going to see it coming a Turbo'd Sporty blowing by them how sick is that 182 is just Bonkers! But its good power! I'm debating whether or not to charge it or leave it cause reliability is a big factor too.
But If I can get some decent HP out of it without compromising reliability I'm so down for a TURBO SPORTY!
Some people just don't get it. The objective is to go fast without buying Jap Crap. (Anyone can go buy a 'Busa) Ever see the look on a guys face riding a crotch rocket when he get's smoked by an HD? It doesn't happen often but it can happen. It only takes money. See that video above of the turbo Sportster? 182 HP! That will leave all but the fastest crotch rockets in the dust in the quarter mile. There is a guy at our local track who runs high 9's on a streetable Sporty.
My view... How much money will one have in a Busa vs. a Busa "smoking" HD? Cost benefit analysis? Don't care what you do to a HD, it's not going to perform as well as a well setup sport bike on the track. On the strip, the top class in drag racing is based on what? Sport bikes? V-Rod's?
Other thoughts... Most stock bikes - especially sport bikes - have much more capability than the riders that ride them. The disparity becomes even greater when additional performance mods are added to the bike. The ol' adage about more bike than brains comes to mind.
The other question... Where is this crotch rocket "smoking" going to occur? On the strip... fine...
Like I said... Can see it if you just like building things, need to feed the tinkering needs etc, or want to compete on the strip or track... Otherwise...
The powerstroke I had was 18:1 CR and could hit 35 PSI of boost
powerstroke meaning diesel?...way different than gas builds.
I'm lumped into that "mod guy" group as i've built many cars, a couple trucks, mainly Jeeps (CJs..real Jeeps ). My main love is the older 240-260-280's and building stroker engines out of the 2.8L we use the older late 70's-80's diesel maxima crank. Diesel engines and the internals are built much stronger.
I love my sporty and it's fast for what it is, but nothing like my sport bike were. If you want stupid fast, get a good 1000 sport bike and go from there. I'm sure with a turbo or SC you can get more power out of your bike, but at what cost? is it worth it IMO when you can have a faster bike for $10k off the showroom floor-NO.
Still want to own a Harley and be fast? Get one of the new 2012 Vrods! Great platform to start with and is faster then the old models from the upgrades they did like lighten the wheels and inverted fork.. Then MOD the crap out it! Turbo charging the sporty isnt goint to get you good Handling! It will be fast tho!

I hear ya. But we're not talking about cost/benefit analysis. We're talking about being one OF a million, or one IN a million. That's the difference. Oh, while I agree, the "smoking" should take place at the track. (It only takes $25 and a full face helmet to get on the track as much as you want on a Friday night near me). However, to think late Friday and Saturday night stop light wars don't exist is to be in denial. We were young once too. Hey we can agree to disagree. I love the thought of a boosted HD on roids taking the 'Busa tools to the cleaners in a straight line. Handling be damned.

That's kinda what I was thinking with that cost benefits analysis comment that I made.
