i just purchased a dakota digital yesterday. hopefully it'll arrive this week. graduation gift from family, so i didn't have to pay. but i really wanted it mainly for the gear indicator and tach. the other functions are just icing.

This might be a stupid question, but if you switch out or the dakota, how do u transfer the mileages, or does the guage just start back at zero?

That's something I didn't think about. I know in Kansas if you swap yachts in cars there is a big hassle with paperwork to do it legally. Atleast that's what I've been told. But I plan on keeping the bike anyways. If its something your looking into check your local dmv or police department.

Good question. There's a procedure where you can enter in the starting mileage. You can only do it once, and you have to do it within so many miles of installing it.

I think that will not be enough. You might have to get longer bolts. I don't have the stock ones so it was different for me.

I had to change the clamp but because of the indentations where the screw goes into, I had to get some spacers to raise it above the indentations and that made me have to get longer screws.
