Default 30 incher

So, went for a ride. Stumbled across a bike builder on the north side. Truly amazing work coming out of there. Definite 6 figure bikes. Long story short. Working on one for a client with 30 inch front wheel. You see them in magazines. I get the show bike aspect of it. But in person OMG is it big. There is a point where you go. That just doesn't look right. It looks like one of those antique bicycles with the HUGE front wheel. Other than bragging rights saying mine is bigger than yours. Appears totally useless. With the tire it went above my nut sack when standing in front of it. I'm 6 feet tall. But, to each his own I guess. I asked what is this guy thinking?!? He said, I make everyone who rakes the front end to put something like a 26" on sign a waiver saying I recommended not to do it...(which everyone with a bagger is trying to do in this neck of the woods)

I can't imagine riding anything over a 21". The way I ride i really get into corners, the side wall support just isn't there the higher up you go. I saw a couple baggers with 30's a couple weeks ago at Thunderbeach, they were posed up at the chopper vendor displays and judging by the overall cleanliness of them, they didn't look ridden.

I don't even like a 26 that much, too big, almost tricycle looking. My dad runs a 23 on his bike and it's the perfect size to me. Anything bigger seems out of place to me.

23s the way to go. Things have to be aesthetically pleasing. There is such a thing as balance and flow. That thing is too much. It's big just for the sake of being big. The owner must be trying to subconsciously compensate for something else.

They need 30" rims.........This way they have something to lean on when they're posing next to the bike........
