The front fender is too flimsy and thin to actually brace the the front forks, and so is the RSD "fork brace". If you want an actual fork brace get something similar to this:

sounds good. I am comfortable with the ride with the thin front fender now, so if if the ride will be the same without it then I will just remove and not be concerned with a brace. Water in face wont bug me to much, I rock a full face helmet so wont bug me as much as a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet rider would be. Thanks everyone.

Next step. removing front fender (which is currently flipped ha) chopping rear fender about 4 inchs, picking up some drag bars and either jokers fork mount speedo bracket, or the RSD lowprofile bracket.

Took mine off Sunday night. Road to work Monday morning and noticed no difference. And that includes a twisty road with plenty of hard corners and interstate riding. So yeah you'll probably notice nothing. Now depending on which sporty it is The fender brace can be removed from the fender by means of all drilling rivets or Removing 4 torch bolts. One of the guys on here (I can't remember the name) did this to his bike and made a site with the walk through and a few other mods as wells. http://myfortyeight.wordpress.com/

Agreed. didn't change the handling characteristics what so ever. The Sportster 48 has a stock fork brace that remains when you take it off. Just watch out for the puddles. Unless, you didn't shower that morning.
