Watch being in a cages blind spot. When at a busy intersection red light, take a few seconds to look left and right for the red light runner. Learn to predict the movements and lane changes of the cages on multilane highways. Never get distracted. Enjoy your ride

When I took the MSF course I found that the terminology was different but dovetailed with my Heavy Vehicle training I received at the phone company.

The University of Illinois has Motorcycle Rider programs all throughout the state. Google it. I think the class will run you like $30. It will teach you TONS of valuable common sense and rider basics. After taking it, I recommend it to anyone. Due to the price (roughly 10% of that of a Harley class) they fill up quick. They do have a website. You can do it over a couple weekends. The good news is, you pass the class, you automatically get a "M" license without going to the DMV and taking a riding or written test. They provide EVERYTHING. Motorcycle, classroom, even a helmet if you don't have one. I took the class at a community college right by my house...They go rain or shine. You're late, you're out.

I agree with Turbine. Ride everywhere you can. The more time on that bike the more comfortable you'll feel. Don't get discouraged. You won't be the first nor the last to have "Oooops" moments. Good luck and have fun.

First, learn to counter stear.

Second, learn the braking and friction zone technique of tight turns.

Third, ride the hell out of that bike. It will take you anywhere.

Oh yeah, most importantly....look where you want to go, not at what you want to avoid. You will go where you look.
