Hey all,
I am pretty new to riding and I just bought a brand new 2012 Iron and I LOVE IT!! But there a couple things I want do to it such a new air cleaner and some pipes! But my question is what kinds of things should I watch out for that may void my warranty? I specifically want know about the fuel management systems.. If someone can explain the warranty for me I would really appreciate it.. Thanks
Welcome to the forum from New Hampshire! I don't think they care about intakes and exhausts, but when you add an EFI module (Cobra, etc.) then they can use that to deny a claim. The efi factory module will support some new pipes (within reason...) and a new intake. I put a cobra module on mine and it runs cooler/better power. Some folks suggest pulling the module off if going in for warranty service. Takes about an hour to put it on or off. Not hard, just small spaces. There are a bunch of good efi modules to pick from, but I would go with an aftermarket one. Way less expensive and works better. Congrats on the new ride! Ride safe.
Get familiar with the Magnum-Moss Warranty act. Some dealers will try to deny lots of claims. But there is this tricky little Federal Law that trumps what the dealer might try to tell you. And usually if you just mention Magnum-Moss, they will immediately have a different message for you.
