Default Pull main fuse

I was going through the service manual, doing home work preparing for 1st service, and I noticed that it is recommending to pull the main fuse when you change the transmission oil (a video suggests to pull the whole battery out)
Is that really necessary?
I mean, if the key is on OFF, and engine switch too, how the heck can the thing start?

No, it's not necessary.
It seems the world is full of stupid people these days and manufactures have to protect themselves from lawsuits. Like, not everyone seems to know that McDonalds coffee is hot.

I'm sorry to rant but I really dislike this line. Here's why:

"...Stella Liebeck who suffered 3rd degree burns in her pelvic region..."

"Liebeck was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that she had suffered third-degree burns on six percent of her skin and lesser burns over sixteen percent. She remained in the hospital for eight days while she underwent skin grafting."

"Liebeck's attorneys discovered that McDonald's required franchisees to serve coffee at 180–190 °F (82–88 °C). At that temperature, the coffee would cause a third-degree burn in two to seven seconds."

"Other documents obtained from McDonald's showed that from 1982 to 1992 the company had received more than 700 reports of people burned by McDonald's coffee to varying degrees of severity..."

"At trial, lawyers discovered that McDonalds routinely served its coffee at 190 degrees, and had been previously warned by the Shriner Burn Institute not to serve coffee above 130 degrees."

"Liebeck sought to settle with McDonald's for $20,000 to cover her actual and anticipated expenses. Her past medical expenses were $10,500; her anticipated future medical expenses were approximately $2,500; and her loss of income was approximately $5,000 for a total of approximately $18,000.[15] Instead, the company offered only $800."

"The judge then reduced the award to less than half a million dollars. Liebeck then purportedly settled with McDonalds for a sum far less than half a million dollars, which barely covered the cost of her medical bills."

TLDR; McDonald's was serving coffee WAY too hot and knew it. Poor 79 year old lady gets severely burned and doesn't even walk away with the money to cover her medical expenses. Sorry for the rant but I just don't think it is right to make fun of people when the truth is not known. People should reserve their judgement of others.

Not upset at you though, it's not like you knew. So no hard feelings or anything!

NO, it's not necessary. If you read the manual it will tell you to disconnect all of those items before you do anything. Damn attorneys.

The most printed line in HD manuals......"Death or serious injury could occur"

In some cases that is true, but they are like Chicken Little.....the sky is falling, the sky is falling....

And if you are so stupid to not realize that coffee is HOT, please don't drive!!!!!!
